My dad’s famous burger recipe
I’ve never shared this before…
..but it’s one of my favourite recipes! For World Happiness Day (today!!), George Foreman have asked me to share a recipe that makes me happy and I couldn’t be more excited to share this one. Everytime I head back to visit my parents and brother in California, Dad and I are always back at the grill together. In the meantime, while I can’t be there to grill these up with him, he’s sent me his recipe to share with you guys which I’m grilling up on my George Foreman fit grill! It’s simple and delicious and always made with love - makes me happy and reminds me of home!
Ingredients (makes 3-4 burgers):
500g beef mince (20% fat)
1 tbsp garlic granules/powder
1 tbsp onion granules/powder
4 tbsp bread crumbs (non-panko)
2 tbsp oil (I sometimes skip but Dad recommends)
3 tbsp ketchup
+ any buns/toppings you’d like
Simply mix the ingredients together and Dad’s top tip is after mixing, form into burgers and put them in the fridge to sit for a few hours (if you have time). You can grill right away, but this let’s the flavours combine more. The forming before is also important! Then simply heat up your grill when you’re ready, pop the burgers on. For our burgers, they took about 5-7 minutes (with the lid down on the grill) to be medium. Have a check on your burgers as they grill depending on the size, and if you’re like me, add a slice of cheddar to melt when the burgers are almost done. To get the cheese to melt, just hold the lid of the George Foreman over the cheese (not touching) and after a minute or two, it should be completely melted! We put our burgers on brioche buns with mayo, fresh lettuce, sliced red onion, tomatoes, pickle slices and a drizzle of ketchup. Sometimes I toast the buns, but the brioche was so fluffy.
