Quick homemade meatball sandwiches with melted parm on top
Quick homemade meatball sandwiches with melted parm on top! 🥫🧅
Josh loves a meatball sandwich but since lockdown, we are skipping the Subway and making our own! Don’t get me wrong, love a Subway, the smell of the shops, the white chocolate cookie... a bag of crisps with my sandwich... but anyway - homemade and so easy, takes minimal effort for maximum taste!
Ingredients:
500g mince beef (ground beef)
180ml (or as much as you please) tomato sauce, I used @muttipomodoro )
3 large brioche hot dog buns
2 tbsp Italian herb seasoning
â…” onion, chopped finely
2 garlic cloves, chopped or minced
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 pinches of salt (1 for balls, 1 for sauce)
1-2 tbsp olive oil
½ cup grated Parmesan
Preheat your oven broiler (grill if you’re in the UK like me) to 200c. Add beef, tomato paste, Italian herb, onion, garlic, olive oil and a pinch of salt into a bowl. Mix together with your hands and then form into meatballs (makes about 10). Pop them on a lined baking tray and place directly under the broiler/grill for 12-14 mins flipping halfway. Heat your tomato sauce with a pinch of salt. Slice your buns, toast them if you like, add your meatballs, pour over your tomato sauce and top with grated Parmesan which should start to melt! If it doesn’t melt, you can quickly pop everything back in the oven for a minute or two with no heat on as it will still have the residual heat which will melt the parm. You can serve with a side salad or lettuce inside, too. Possibilities are endless for this meatball sandwich!
