Cocktails at The Ritz, London
RoyalSuiteRitz

As one of the most iconic hotels in London, The Ritz exudes decadence and true English design and invites you to feel as if you are British Aristocracy for the day (or overnight).

Walking into The Ritz Hotel in London, just next to Green Park is an experience in itself. The hotel makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, where beautiful piano music (played live by Ian who has been there for over 25 years) dances through the air, over the heads of afternoon tea-ers, lobby wanderers, Rivoli Bar visitors and restaurant diners.

We started our visit to The Ritz with a hotel tour, to see behind the scenes of their Royal Suite. A maisonette style layout, the suite is a one bedroom, two bathroom with a formal living room, dining room, office and breakfast table overlooking the entrance to Green Park. The special thing about this suite is that the bedroom is completely round (even the TV is rounded). With a huge walk-in closet (again overlooking Green Park), the wardrobes can be filled with as many clothes as needed, and with the office just next to the bedroom - who says you ever even have to leave the suite? Especially considering the suite comes with 24/hr butler service to make sure you have everything you need to fully enjoy your stay. This means milkshakes and fries at 2am are 100% a-go!

After our tour we were taken down to the Rivoli Bar which is located just through a small door off the main lobby. Once you walk in, it feels like you’ve become English royalty, cheetah print everywhere, marble counters, and gold leather menus for you to peruse.

The cocktails start at £22 each, which is a bit pricey knowing you can get a well drink at any bar for about £7, but this isn’t any bar - THIS IS THE RITZ! You are not only paying for an incredible drink, but exceptional service and an interior to die for. A glass of wine on the other hand starts at about £15 but bottles can be upwards of £400 if you’re feeling like a splurge (treat yo-self… sometimes, amirite?) and when I say it’s the royal treatment, it really is. You’re getting servers that are so knowledgeable and experienced in what they do, and bartenders who love their job - it’s the ultimate dream.

We started with two cocktails recommended by the bar staff, mine was the ARTESIAN WATER which is made with Beluga Noble Vodka, Yuzu Juice, Evangelista Limoncello, Matcha Green Tea Cordial, Electric Bitters, Egg White, Spirulina Organic Powder and Champagne, and my friend Yasmin ordered the CESÁR RITZ made with Stolichnaya Elit Vodka, Fortunella Golden Orange Liqueur, Fresh Lemon and Lime Juice, Fresh Raspberries, Raspberry Chardonnay Foam. The Artesian Water was smooth and refreshing, with a bold blue green colour and the Cesár Ritz was sweet and sippable, and looked gorgeous with the raspberry foam on top.

After a few delicious cocktails, we tried The Ritz Selection of Canapés, which were so delicately presented and is £32. They came in a row, and were accommodating for Yasmin as she is allergic to strawberries and shellfish and made her canapés to fit with her dietary needs.

This was the most decadent experience, and one of the most wonderful - it really makes you fall head over heels in love with London all over again.
